When police checked the RV on Guys Run Road, they found David Howard, 47, dead inside.

The suspect told investigators he had been drinking when he and his dad started to argue about his girlfriend, according to police. Shane Howard said his dad was “badmouthing” his girlfriend while they spoke on the phone.

Police said he confessed to hitting his father in the face and head with a fire extinguisher before shooting the victim in the back of the head with a shotgun.

Police have determined that after the shooting, Howard took his weapons and was picked up by a friend, who later convinced him to turn himself in, police said in a release. Howard will be charged with homicide and tampering with physical evidence.
