Ambridge mother to plead guilty to killing her 2 children this month

AMBRIDGE, Pa. — The Beaver County District Attorney’s Office said that an Ambridge mother accused of killing her two children in February is set to plead guilty to those crimes on Dec. 14.

Krisinda Bright called 911 after shooting her children to death inside their home on Maplewood Avenue, telling dispatchers that she then left the gun unloaded on the dining room table, according to a criminal complaint.

When police got to the home, Bright was standing outside on the front porch. Her children, 16-year-old Jeffrey Bright and 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady, were found dead inside.

Bright told officers at the police station that she shot one of her children while they were lying in bed, the complaint said. She then went downstairs and pointed the gun at her other child, who said, “Please don’t shoot, I’m going to call the police.”

The gun initially didn’t fire, so Bright “fixed” the gun and pulled the trigger again, the complaint said.

The child was shot, but was still alive until Bright returned to shoot again because she didn’t want her child to suffer.

Bright was originally charged with two counts of criminal homicide.

She will now enter a plea of two counts of first degree murder. Each count carries a mandatory life sentence.
