BEAVER, Pa. — The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office says a scam caller is impersonating a member of their office.
The scammer is contacting people in Beaver County and identifying himself as Lieutenant Thomas Plunkard. Plunkard is an employee from the office but he is not the person making the calls.
Reports of the scams say they have received voicemails, and report that caller ID shows a number from Springdale.
The caller says he is contacting people on an “initial contact on a legal matter.” The scammer may say there is a warrant for the person they are calling’s arrest or that they must pay bail. They are trying to scare people into giving up financial information.
Authorities say anyone who receives calls like this should always call the agency the person is claiming to be from and confirm if they have a warrant for you. The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 724-770-4602.
