Butler Co. doctor accused of inappropriately touching boys begins 2nd trial

BUTLER, Pa. — A local doctor accused of inappropriately touching two young boys was back in court Tuesday after a mistrial was ruled on his last trial.

David Evanko, 58, is accused of committing sex crimes with teenage boys in the mid 1990s, officials said.

The first victim, who is now 32 years old testified that he was 13 at the time Evanko committed the crimes.

Police said Evanko met the victims while volunteering as a Boy Scout leader. According to police, he used his job title and alcohol to abuse the boys.

The first victim told the court, “He asked if I wanted to play a game that he called 'truth or dare.' He dared me to take my pants off and when it was over he told me it was a secret and not to talk about it with anyone.”

Evanko denies the allegations and his defense attorney, Stanton Levenson, said Evanko will testify.

“He’s holding up OK,” Levenson said. “He maintains his practice and gets through it one day at a time.”
