City of Asylum announces taking full ownership of Masonic Temple Building on the North Side

City of Asylum Pittsburgh is now the sole owner of the Masonic Temple Building, already the nonprofit’s established administrative home, Alphabet City, along with its City of Asylum Bookstore and 40 North Bar & Restaurant.

The nonprofit, established to promote freedom of expression and to support often persecuted writers from countries with autocratic governments, announced its new ownership status as a measure expected to “streamline our risk management and financial operations,” according to a prepared statement by City of Asylum Executive Director Andres Franco.
