PITTSBURGH — City, county and PennDOT crews are taking notice and capitalizing on the break in bad weather to start patching up potholes and problems spots across the area.
“Fix the dog gone potholes!” said Noreen Harris, of the Hill District.
Potholes are just about everywhere—wreaking havoc on drivers’ cars’ alignment, tires and axels.

Dawn Williams of the Hill District has experienced problems firsthand after hitting a pothole and heavily damaging her car.
“My car was like almost like 600, over 700 dollars to fix it,” said Williams.
Channel 11 followed a Public Works crew as they worked to patch up the problem spots in the Southside.
The city says any potholes deemed to be a safety hazard or potentially damaging to vehicles will be filled with a cold patch during the winter months.
PennDOT is doing the same—surveying roads on their winter pothole blitz.
“Right now it’s a temporary fix, putting cold patch in all of the potholes, and it’s our prime focus,” said Lori Musto, assistant district executive of maintenance at PennDOT District 11.
Acting Director of Public Works Chris Hornstein told Channel 11 to please be patient as they work through the process.
“They are compiling a list of all of the pothole reports from residents to be reviewed at the beginning of pothole season in April.”
Residents are encouraged to report potholes to the city and county.
Potholes and other roadway concerns on state roads can be reported by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting www.penndot.gov.
