FRAZIER — A new movie theater chain is ready to reopen the theaters at Pittsburgh Mills mall.
According to our partners at the Trib, GQT Movies is taking over the former Cinemark location.
”I think it’s going to be able to do a lot for the mall,” said Mark McSparin, president of GQT Movies.
McSparin says the location could open as soon as Mar. 1.
“I think it is going to drive a lot of traffic to that area,” said McSparin.
The mall has been struggling in recent years, with many chains closing their stores at the property.
”I think that’s a very nice mall. I know malls are struggling all over, but… I’m just a little bit surprised that the mall doesn’t do better than it does, because all the surrounding retail seems to be there and doing business,” said McSparin.
McSparin will be working with the property’s manager to help bring back business to the area.
The current theater has 18-screens. When the theater reopens, only six screens will be used.
