Police said that in early March 2015 the boy stayed at Shroyer's home on an evening she was hosting a party. He had run away from his parent's house and later told police that he had a sexual encounter with Shroyer, prompting a police investigation.
Shroyer told Channel 11's Joe Holden that she blames the encounter on grief and alcohol.
"I did cross the line, I honestly did. But alcohol was involved," said Shroyer.
Shroyer told Holden that her daughter died after a battle with cancer.
"I'm not in my right state of mind, that's why I go to counseling. That's why I'm on medication," said Shroyer. "I'm not all here because of my mental conditions."
Police said that during an interview Shroyer admitted to having sexual intercourse with the boy.
"I'm not actually a bad person. You can trust your kids around me. I'm not that bad of a person," said Shroyer.
