“We heard an explosion and it sounded like a grenade. It didn’t sound like a shotgun. We looked out the window and saw a group of police officers out there,” Ryan Mason said.
Mason said it was terrifying to look outside and see suited and armed law enforcement officers swarming the house next to his.
“It looked like a war zone out there. They were all dressed fatigues and police vehicles were everywhere,” Mason said.
Jeannette police, along with the attorney general’s office and drug task force, arrested 18-year-old Jamere Glanton. He doesn’t live at the house, but police said they found crack cocaine and three loaded handguns there.
“It doesn’t really surprise me that much. There’s not much for kids to do here,” Mason said.
Mason, who lives with his wife and three kids, said he’s concerned for their safety.
“He rides his bike around. He goes to the park just a couple blocks away. It’s scary and it’s sad,” Mason said.
According to court paperwork, at least one of the recovered guns was stolen from a man who died in 2011.
Glanton remains jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail.
