The daughters of a woman who was among two found dead at a Harrison Township apartment Friday are looking for answers.

Katelin Conner and Chelsea Schlagel said their mother, Angela Schlagel, 37, was a mother of three, a grandmother and a former volunteer firefighter and EMT. She was found dead along with Frank Nicolozza Friday afternoon inside the Kuntz Street apartment.

Conner and Chelsea Schlagel told Channel 11's Jennifer Borrasso that they are heartbroken and don't know how their mother knew Nicolozza, or what she was doing in Harrison Township.

“For her to end up where she did, I have no clue how she ended up there. And it’s just heartbreaking that anybody would have to go through that,” said Chelsea Schlagel.

She and Conner said their mother struggled with addiction, but planned on moving to Arizona to start a new life.

“To know she’s gone, like, it feels like a dream. I can’t explain, like, how much my mom really meant to me -- the person that she was before the drugs,” said Conner. “And now that she’s gone, like, we can’t even fix nothing. I can’t even tell her I’m sorry. I can’t even hear her say she loves me. Nothing.”

Nicolozza’s neighbors and family also told Channel 11 that they do not know how he knew Angela Schlagel.

"I knew him. He was dead. Her? I had never seen before,” said neighbor Don Gallagher.

Autopsies were performed on Angela Schlagel and Nicolozza, but the cause and manner of their deaths are still to be determined.

A fund has been established to raise money for Angela Schlagel's final expenses. [Click HERE.]
