• Ellwood City woman accused of shoplifting with 1-year-old baby

    ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. - An Ellwood City woman is accused of shoplifting with her daughter, and then leading police on a chase through the woods.

    According to police, Sara Gasper, 27, is accused of taking more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Chippewa Township on Nov. 10 while she had her 1-year-old daughter with her.

    Investigators said Gasper tried to run into some nearby woods to escape, but was caught.

    She is facing several charges, including felony retail theft and endangering the welfare of a child.

    Gasper has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 17.
