Excavation mistake causes explosion outside Mt. Lebanon High School

MOUNT LEBANON, Pa. — Officials said an excavation mistake caused a transformer to blow out near Mount Lebanon High School

The incident happened on Cochran Road Monday evening.

The explosion forced crews to shut down Cochran Road from Lebanon to Florida avenues.

Police said the blast happened when a worker operating a steam shovel hit an electrical line.

No injuries were reported.
