The Atlanta Falcons have ruled out quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) for Sunday’s Week 1 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.
With Tagovailoa sidelined, the Falcons will start Cooper Rush. Undrafted rookie Jack Strand out of Division II Minnesota State-Moorhead will be the backup.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski said Atlanta will have an emergency third QB for Sunday, but he did not divulge who it will be, per Marc Raimondi of ESPN.
Tagovailoa suffered an oblique injury at practice on Thursday.
