Finleyville Food Pantry looking for new home after eviction

FINLEYVILLE, Pa. — The Finleyville Food Pantry is looking for a new home after they received an eviction notice.

The pantry currently operates in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church on Washington Avenue.

The owner said she can not afford a lawyer to fight the eviction.

Rent for the food pantry has tripled in price.

“It’s such a valued resource in the community and it’s a shame to see that they’re not going to be here,” said community member Angela Peddicord. “They have been here for over 38 years. There are generations of families who have relied on this service and now it’s not going to be here. It’s horrible.”

The pantry serves about 350 families per week.

The owner is now looking for a new location for the pantry.
