At least 3 families lose everything in Upper Saint Clair fire

UPPER SAINT CLAIR, Pa. — At least three families lost their home and personal belongings in a fire in Upper Saint Clair Thursday.

Investigators said the fire started in the 1500 block of Pinehurst Drive at the Pinehurst Condominium Complex around 12:30 p.m.

Chopper 11 captured the heavy smoke and flames shooting from the structure for nearly two hours.

Fire crews battled the blaze and smoke as the fire spread to two neighboring condos.

No one was home in the condo where the fire started, but a cleaning person who was in a nearby unit smelled the smoke and called 911.

Neighbors said they ran outside to see what was going on.

"I actually just heard an explosion, and the next thing I knew when I was walking my dog, there was smoke everywhere so it was really scary,” said Nancy Feldman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
