APOLLO, Pa. — Former Apollo Police Chief Paul Breznican Jr. was sentenced Thursday for stealing and selling police guns and equipment.
According to Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE, Judge James J. Panchik gave Breznican a sentence of nine to 27 months, rejecting Breznican's attorney's request for a sentence of house arrest.
Breznican pleaded guilty in May to three felony theft charges and two lesser counts involving an AR-15 police rifle bought by the borough with a federal grant, TribLIVE said.
Police initially charged Breznican with 30 counts for alleged criminal conduct.
Borough Council officially fired Breznican last November.
