According to district administrators, Maloy was replacing newer equipment with cheaper versions and then selling it on eBay.
“A lot of technology started to malfunction in the district, causing a lot of chaos... bringing down a lot of systems and so forth it,” said Philip Martell, Connellsville School District’s acting superintendent.
Maloy was charged earlier this week and the superintendent said he hopes that Maloy has to pay everything back.
“We are going to go after people. These are public tax dollars that purchased this equipment to educate the children of Connellsville,” said Martell.
Maloy was released on $25,000 unsecured bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Monday at 10 a.m., according to Trib Live.
The school district has also posted a job opening to replace him.
