They found microscopic fibers that kids could inhale.
The group sent a letter on Thursday to the National Restaurant Association. They want restaurants to only give kids asbestos-free crayons.
One of the brands testing positive is Amscan Crayons, which are sold online, packaged in small boxes for restaurants.
“The percentage of products, particularly children’s toys, that contain asbestos should be zero,” said Alex Formuzis, with the Environmental Working Group Action Fund.
The environmental group says the asbestos fibers found in the crayons most likely came from contaminated talc used as a binding agent.
