Indoor bike park to open in Homewood

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A local man is planning to open the state's first indoor bike park this winter.

Harry Geyer said the former warehouse in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood will include mountain biking trails, a BMX trick park, and an area for beginners. It's called The Wheel Mill.

Geyer said he got the idea from the nation's first indoor bike park, which opened in Cleveland in 2004.

Eric Boerer of Bike Pittsburgh, an advocacy group, said the idea is great for the city.

The 80,000-square-foot park will offer seasonal, weekend and daily passes, and bicycles for rent.
