PITTSBURGH — On Wednesday, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison responded to recent comments made by Bill Cowher and Hines Ward about the Steelers’ defense being soft.
"I would give the same opinion, that's what it looked like,” Harrison said. “They passed the ball, the ran the ball, they did both effectively.”
Harrison said he doesn’t fault the former Steelers wide receiver and coach for their comments.
“Obviously, they're getting people where they want them in the run game so they can run the ball and they're making plays in the pass game so I have no problems with what they said. It would be a correct assumption,” Harrison said.
Channel 11's Bill Phillips then asked, "How much motivation does that give a player when he is called soft?"
"You don't want to hear yourself associated with anything that's considered soft but there is nothing you can do about it until next week and you go out there and put something else on tape that says otherwise,” Harrison said.
Harrison and the Steelers will have the opportunity to put something else on tape Monday night when they host the Houston Texans at Heinz Field.
