A landslide left behind a mess in Armstrong County this weekend.
Ford City Fire Chief Chris Jogan says crews were called to Seventh Avenue in the borough at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Part of the hillside had given way between two homes. One had an exterior wall pushed in, but it was under renovation and unoccupied at the time.
The other home was occupied but unaffected, Jogan says.
A third, occupied home had water flowing into its basement, but it was redirected into a drain, preventing major damage.
Jogan says firefighters, along with public works and emergency management personnel, decided to have a contractor come in to redirect the water flow so no more landslides or flooding would happen.
Crews had redirected the water by 2 a.m., though the contractor returned Sunday morning to remove some more debris.
Jogan says the slide is stable now, and a trench has been cut to handle the water flow.
Borough leaders are working to restore the hillside, as more rain is expected to fall this week, the chief added.
