FREEPORT BOROUGH, Pa. — A driver was arrested yesterday in Freeport Borough after allegedly driving at high speeds toward parade crowds and fleeing officers into a convenience store, police said.
According to the Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department, an officer conducting traffic control at 5th and Market streets noticed a silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed toward crowds on 5th Street before the Annual Freeport Halloween Parade began.
The driver, later identified as Kyle Pulaski, failed to pull over at 5th and High streets and drove toward Buffalo Street before entering a BP parking lot and entering the store, police said.
Police located Pulaski inside the BP store at the register and repeatedly ordered him to show his hands and lie on the ground. When the driver attempted to flee, officers deployed a Taser and arrested him.
Pulaski declined emergency medical assistance at the scene, but officers transported him to a hospital. Authorities confirmed that charges have been filed against him.
The Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department highlighted its event safety measures following the arrest.
“The Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department increases staffing during community events to help protect the safety of residents and visitors. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support,” the agency said in a statement.
