Man accused of operating child-porn-sharing system out of garage

CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. — Detectives with the attorney general’s child predator unit arrested a Castle Shannon man this week accused of operating a child pornography sharing system out of his garage.

According to the criminal complaint, 32-year-old Bryan Zaharko was not only viewing child pornography, but also sharing it from inside the home where he lived with his girlfriend and her two children.

Investigators said they found an elaborate computer system with a server that allowed Zaharko to share images, some of girls as young as 5 years old, with others.

According to the criminal complaint, Zaharko initially told investigators it was unintentional and occurred while he was in the process of searching for and downloading adult porn.

However, investigators said Zaharko later admitted to viewing child porn off and on for the past five years, even though he knew it was illegal.

A man who identified himself as Zaharko’s father downplayed the arrest.

“All I want to do is tell the fact that there’s no big deal. It’s not anything. It’s minor,” the man said.

Zaharko is facing charges of possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.
