CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A disturbing case has come out of Cranberry Township after a man is accused of abusing a baby.
According to the criminal complaint, Cranberry Township police were alerted on Dec. 15 that a 10-month-old baby was being treated at UPMC Cranberry for head trauma.
The day before, police said the baby’s mother, sister and mother’s boyfriend, Christian Yeaples, were staying at Clarion Inn along Route 19 for Yeaples’ work.

The mother told police Yeaples was alone with the baby for about 10 minutes, during which police said the baby started to show signs of distress and began shaking.
Yeaples initially denied hitting the baby. But later told police he was swinging the baby around by their legs and then he hit the baby’s head on a pack and play and also tossed the baby onto a bed.
The baby was later transferred to children’s hospital.
According to the criminal complaint, the medical staff said the baby had a traumatic brain injury. THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, was also found in the baby’s system.
Doctors said the baby suffered an abusive head trauma as a result of this violent event, describing it as a near-fatality.
Yeaples is facing two felony charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children. Right now, Channel 11 is working to get an update on the baby’s condition.
