Freeman’s live-in girlfriend found him and initially thought he had had a heart attack, but paramedics quickly determined he had been shot, authorities said.
Police said they found the back door was kicked in and collected bullet casings from two different guns from several rooms in the house.
Investigators said a motive is not clear. However, it is possible that Freeman returned home and interrupted a burglary, they said.
Anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to call McKeesport police or the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit at 412-473-1300.
