Boy, 10, pulled from bottom of Claysville pool, in good condition

CLAYSVILLE, Pa. — A 10-year-old boy was taken to UPMC Children's hospital Thursday afternoon after he was found at the bottom of a Claysville pool.

Dispatchers from 911 said thethird-grade student from Arsenal Elementary, whose name has not been released, was pulled from the bottom of Sunset Beach Swimming Pool along Route 40 around 2 p.m.

Ebony Pugh, Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman, said the boy's school was on a field trip to the pool. He became tired while swimming and went underwater. He was quickly rescued by a lifeguard, Pugh said.

Officials said the boy was breathing on his own but unconscious after being pulled from the pool.

Hospital officials said he is in good condition.
