PITTSBURGH — For the first time since the accident, a witness gave his account Thursday of what happened on the Bloomfield Bridge last month that left a doctor hurt and landed a convict in trouble once again.
Police said Anthony Morasco hit and severely injured the doctor with his SUV.

While the victim was unable to attend Morasco’s hearing Thursday, a witness, Mark Puharic, was in court and described what happened before Morasco hit the doctor, who was changing a tire.
"As I noticed getting closer and closer, he never realized someone was broken down until it was too late,” Puharic said.
Puharic said moments after hitting the doctor, Morasco threw a black bag out the window of his SUV and over the bridge. Investigators later said the bad contained bags of heroin and money.
Puharic said he stopped his car to help the victim.
"I thought he was dead after he got hit, because as I was driving, as soon as the person hit the vehicle, the man disappeared under his car,” he said.
Authorities said the doctor was hurt so badly that he needed one of his legs amputated.
Morasco has been in trouble with the law before. He was convicted of killing a man during a hit-and-run in 2012.
