Moon Township convenience store robbery prompts lockdown at nearby daycare

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A daycare in Moon Township was placed on lockdown Tuesday after police said a nearby convenience store was robbed.

Police said the robbery at the 7 Eleven on Broadhead Road was caught on surveillance video.

The video clearly shows the man walk past the entrance and pick up a bag to prop open the door, approach the clerk, place a gun on a counter and wait as the clerk hands him cash from the register.

Police said the robber was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and used a scarf to cover up his face.

"The clerk is fine. He's not hurt. He did what he should have done. Give him the money and let him leave. Fortunately he's OK," said Moon Township police Capt. Greg Seamon.

Police placed a nearby daycare on lockdown while they searched the area for the man.

So far, no arrests have been made.
