New Airport Authority CEO wants more nonstop flights to Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — The newly named chief executive officer of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, Christina Cassotis, wants to bring more nonstop flights to Pittsburgh International Airport.

Cassotis said every airline has a list of top markets where it wants to fly. She wants Pittsburgh to be one of them.

"Our job is to move up on that list. Our job is to get to the top of that list and to demonstrate that once the airlines get here, they'll be successful," said Cassotis.

Cassotis was introduced as CEO Tuesday, having previously worked for 16 years as an aviation consultant.

According to the Tribune Review, she will start in her new position in January after the board approves the terms of her three-year contract starting at $295,000 annually.
