North Hills church: ‘Whoever is praying for snow please stop'

PITTSBURGH — A church in the North Hills has found a way to make light of the winter weather causing problems for so many.

Ascension Lutheran Church has posted a message on its billboard outside saying, "Whoever is praying for snow please stop."

Channel 11's Brittny McGraw talked with Pastor Brennan Gaertner about the church's creative signs and how they come up with their weekly messages.

"We take suggestions. We have books and things, so there are a lot of different ways we get ideas for this," Pastor Gaertner said.

He said church member Ron Curcio is the primary creative force behind the clever messages. Curcio said he hopes the messages strike a chord with those in the community.

"Sometimes there's a word or two in there that just means a certain something to certain people and that they really appreciated it," Curcio said.

Curcio said that this latest message has folks talking.

"A lot of them said they like it," he said. "Keep it up until April.  Don't take it down!"
