OAKMONT, Pa. — The congregation of St. Paul Baptist Church in Oakmont remains strong in spirit days after a fire ripped through their more than 100-year-old church building.
"We know we have to move on and today is a new day for us," said Reid Greene.
Sunday services were held across the street at the Riverview Community Action Corporation.
"We're devastated right now, but God will see us through this," said Bill Kemp.
Flames broke out Friday afternoon. Officials said the fire may have been started by a propane torch that crews had been using while patching the church's parking lot.
"We thank God no one was hurt in the fire, and we can go on to do what we have to do and that is to serve God," said Dorothy Griffin.
Plans are to rebuild the church in the same location.
