Cracked, broken and just plain unsafe is how people who live on Andover Terrace describe their road.
“They don’t do anything. Where are all my taxes going?” said Marcia Schutz.
Schutz told Channel 11 for four years she’s taken the pictures and called 311. She believes it’s hollow under the road and that’s why it’s collapsing. Despite those hundreds of calls, there is no permanent fix.
“I mean they waited for a bridge to fall before they started inspecting the bridges,” Schutz said.
Until today, the city announced it has closed this broken part of the road to investigate the retaining wall and how sturdy it may be, but residents like Schutz aren’t optimistic.
“They put those deals up, but it could sit that way for two years or not we will see,” Schutz said.
The city said there is no timeline on how long the road may be closed, but residents were told about a year.
“Driving around for the whole next year, that’s going to be a pain. Anybody that may move they can’t get a truck in and back out of each other’s driveways and they said about a year, maybe,” Schutz said.
The city said it will work with Public Safety and Public Works to ensure there are no disruptions to emergency response or services to the residents.
