PENN HILLS, Pa.,None — Customers of a Penn Hills restaurant said they were left with worthless gift cards after the business suddenly shut down after Christmas.
Morgan's Restaurant is closed and some customers said they spent money on gift cards that they cannot use.
"I was quite upset. This was a gift to them to spend and now they can't," said Grace Tomcho, who bought a gift card for her relatives. "My sister had said that her and her husband go there after church every Sunday for breakfast so I still had a gift to buy them and I thought well, why not there?"
Tomcho said after two days after she purchased the gift card she saw a sign on the store's marquee that read, "Thanks for the memories."
"My husband said, 'Oh, that could just be New Year's Eve or putting up a thank you," Tomcho said.
Officials from the Attorney General's office said if the gift card was bought with a credit card, consumers can file a dispute.
