PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh hair salon has been collecting money and gift cards since Tuesday for the family of a girl who was struck and killed by a man accused of driving under the influence.
Studio RAW, located on Babcock Boulevard, placed a can outside of the salon Tuesday next to a sign that says “Ava age: 6 needs angel wings.”
They reached their goal of collecting $10,000 Thursday by noon.

People drove in from out of the area just to donate to the funds for the family of 6-year-old Ava Campbell.
“You’ve got to pull together as a community at these times,” said Stephanie Zaffino, a Moon Township resident who drove to the North Hills to donate.
In the original post introducing the fundraising idea, the salon also said that it was looking to show Ava Campbell’s family “what the power of a community can do.”
"Hopefully this will do something small to at least give them five minutes of peace,” said Dan Burda, the manager of Studio RAW.
Studio RAW will be collecting funds for the Campbell family through Saturday.
