Police: Drunken driver crashes boyfriend's car into building after fight

MUNHALL, Pa. — A woman accused of driving drunk Tuesday night in Munhall crashed her boyfriend’s car into a building, investigators said.

According to police, Erin Tranter, 29, told officers she was drinking, had a fight with her boyfriend, took his car and accidentally crashed it into the Munhall Chiropractic Center on Main Street about 8:15 p.m.

“It sounded like tires screeching and then like a bad car accident,” witness Ed Piskor said.

Piskor, who manages the Main Street Deli, said he went outside his shop to see what happened and couldn’t believe his eyes.

“The car was inside the chiropractor’s office. When I walked up to the car, she was lighting up a cigarette. She was trying to pull herself out of the passenger side, and I said, ‘Where are you going?’ She said, ‘You need to help me get my car out of here,’” Piskor said. “I told her she should wait for police, and she got out and started walking up Main Street like nothing ever happened.

Authorities said Tranter’s blood-alcohol-content was .164, more than twice the legal limit.

“Fortunately she wasn’t hurt, and she didn’t hurt anyone else. Maybe this will be a major wakeup call for her because it could have been a lot worse,” Dr. Charles Tragesser, who owns the office, said.

Tragesser said he will probably be out of business for about a week while his office is repaired.

Tranter wasn’t taken to jail, but she's being charged with reckless driving and DUI by summons, police said.
