Police: Man robs Brownsville restaurant; May be responsible for other robberies in area

BROWNSVILLE, Pa. — A man arrested for an armed robbery in Brownsville Tuesday may be connected to a string of robberies in the area, police said.

The man entered Pixels Restaurant Tuesday afternoon with a gun and ordered customers to lie on the floor.

One customer said the man threw a person on the ground when he didn’t get down fast enough.

The robber then stole from the customers and demanded cash from the waitress.

Restaurant co-owner Jenny Courie said, “I was back in the kitchen cooking and I came around the corner and said, ‘I’ll give you the money,’ and I gave him the money.”

As the robber left the restaurant, a neighbor got a description of the car and the plate number. Police used that information to track the suspect down a short time later.

Police said that after spotting the vehicle, the robber got out and took off on foot towards the banks of the Monongahela River, where he was apprehended.
