NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A New Castle man is facing several charges after police said he stabbed his wife to death on Wednesday.
New Castle police said officers were dispatched to a home on East Reynolds Street and found Shawn Moore, 38, sitting on his front porch.
Police said Moore had a laceration to his hand and blood on his clothing. When officers went inside, they said they found 36-year-old Alicia Moore's body inside.
Investigators said Alicia Moore suffered multiple stab wounds.
“She was a very fun person. She would give everything she could and was an amazing person,” a neighbor said.
Officers said Shawn Moore admitted to stabbing his wife but said she stabbed him first.
Neighbors told Channel 11 News that they knew the Moores had a rocky relationship.
“We did hear a lot of screaming and slamming of doors. My daughter hears a blood-curdling scream,” neighbor Tammi Hovanec said.
Dispatchers from 911 said a neighbor called and said they thought something was wrong once the screaming ended.
“They used to argue, fuss and fight all the time, but the way she said, ‘Help me. Stop, Shawn,’ it was different than any other time,” neighbor Janet Gubish said.
Alicia Moore’s friends have set up a memorial at the steps of their house.
Shawn Moore faces criminal homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
