PITTSBURGH — Police uncovered and prevented a patient’s plan to have heroin smuggled into her room at St. Clair Hospital Friday.
Channel 11’s Aaron Martin was told by officials that a female in her late 20s planned for another person to drop off the drugs in a separate room, where she would later pick it up.
Police blocked off her room and the drop never took place.
The patient will not be charged since the drugs were not delivered.

"You keep it from spreading to other people as well and whatever else may have happened or other crimes may have occurred because of these narcotics being introduced into safe havens such as hospitals and schools," said Lt. Duane Fisher, Mt. Lebanon police.
Channel 11 has learned that this was not the first time people have tried smuggling drugs into St. Clair Hospital, and that it wasn’t the only time last weekend.
