WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A Wilkinsburg mother is facing charges after police said she placed bleach in her child’s cup and her son drank it.
Deanna Boyd was charged Tuesday with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Boyd told police she was cleaning the bathroom and borrowed bleach from a neighbor. She said she had no other containers so she put the bleach in her son’s sippy cup.
“She said she had put a cup on the sink and he got it,” Boyd’s sister said.
Boyd said he boy drank about a teaspoon of the bleach before getting sick. She said she called 911 and the boy was taken to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Doctors said the boy is expected to be OK. He is currently in the custody of his grandmother.
