GARFIELD, Pa. — Authorities are investigating after a 28-year-old Wilkinsburg woman told police she was sexually assaulted while working as a prostitute early Monday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the intersection of Engleside and N. Atlantic avenues in Garfield just before 2 a.m. for the report of a rape.
Officers found the female lying in the street, speaking with security officers from the housing complex located at the top of N. Atlantic Avenue.
The victim told detectives that she was working as a prostitute in the Homewood area when the suspect approached her at the intersection of Frankstown and Sterrett streets.
The woman told police they agreed on $25 in exchange for sexual relations, and she got in the man's car.
The woman then told police that she became nervous as the suspect drove past Negley Avenue toward the projects. She told police she thought she was going to be killed.
According to the police report, the man forced the woman into the back seat and sexually assaulted her before driving away.
The victim told investigators that she thought the car was a Dodge Stratus, or something similar.
The incident remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
