PITTSBURGH — Developers are in the process of bringing the largest rooftop bar in Pittsburgh right across the street from the Consol Energy Center.
Officials said the developers are buying a few buildings along Fifth Avenue and plan on turning them into a hockey-themed restaurant that would be the first major development around the arena.
Kevin Nord, one of the developers, said the reason they chose the building is to reach out to Penguins fans, college students and young professionals who don’t have many options uptown.
"It's got to be a destination place and that's really what it is,” Nord said. “It’s a restaurant destination place. The rooftop bar is a signature place. When you combine those two things, with uptown, we believe we'll be successful."
Nord said the developers hope to have all four floors packed by next spring with groundbreaking scheduled for this summer.
