‘Serial criminal' accused of stealing from 71-year-old woman back in jail

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman described as a “serial criminal” by police is back in jail for violating the terms of her probation.

Crystal Rudolph, 42, of McKees Rocks, is accused of stealing $300 from 71-year-old Helen Rose.

Police said surveillance video shows Rudolph slipping the envelope of cash out of Rose’s purse as she shopped at a Bellevue dollar store.

"It's very stressful. I keep looking for her on the street,” said Rose. “I got a new purse that's only got one zipper, and I can put it over my shoulder.”

Rose attended Rudolph’s court appearance Thursday in the hopes of putting the ordeal behind her, but Rudolph’s case ended up being postponed because she didn’t have an attorney.

“I am very angry, very angry,” said Rose.

However, Rudolph was taken back to jail for violating the terms of her probation. Police said Rudolph has been charged with two thefts that were both caught on camera while on probation for theft.

“I'm glad she'll be off the street for a while, but she'll probably get out,” said Rose.

Rudolph declined to comment when confronted with question outside of court Thursday.

She’ll be back in court in the coming days for another hearing for the second theft charge.
