PITTSBURGH — Several cars were towed as parents lined a Strip District street to pick up items from Toys for Tots Friday morning.
“People down here that are needy, they can't afford to get things on their own for their kids. They’re now coming out and have a hefty tow bill along with a ticket,” parent Jennifer Taylor said.

Police said the dozens of cars that were towed and ticketed were parked illegally in the area of 29th Street.
Authorities said a total of 13 parking tickets were issued and four cars were towed.
“We gave them some time to move their vehicles and some people did move their vehicles,” Pittsburgh Police Lt. Dan Reed said.
Some parents said one of the officers on scene the misled them.
“They told me I was OK to park where I was, as long as I was not on the curb. Then I come out and I'm being towed," Taylor said.
Pittsburgh police said an officer was brought in to help control traffic and no further issues were reported.
Authorities said people who were ticketed and towed for parking illegally will be responsible for the tickets and towing fees that resulted.
