PITTSBURGH — Travelers coming out of Pittsburgh International Airport now will an alternative option if they want to fly directly to Los Angeles, thanks to Southwest Airlines.

Southwest announced its plans to bring the daily flight to Pittsburgh. The service will beginAugust 7.
The flight will be once daily, seven days per week. It is scheduled to leave Pittsburgh at 7:10 p.m. and arrive at Los Angeles International at 9:10 p.m. The returning flight leaves LA at 4:55 p.m. and arrives in Pittsburgh at 12:25 a.m.
“The addition of LAX from Southwest shows that they believe in the growing regional economy and the community support here,” Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said in a press release.
Southwest now has 16 nonstop destinations from Pittsburgh, more than any other carrier.
Previously, the only other carrier to offer a direct flight to Los Angeles from Pittsburgh was American Airlines.
