Pennsylvania State Police are calling for new information in their investigation into a Butler County woman’s disappearance after 43 years.
Doris Stalker, of Hilliards in Washington Township, Butler County, was last seen on Monday, Nov. 28, 1983.
She and her husband went to a pharmacy in Mariasville in Venango County to have a prescription filled, but found it closed. They moved on to the former Super Duper market on River Avenue in Emlenton, Venango County.
Troopers say Stalker stayed in the vehicle while her husband went inside the store. After about six or seven minutes, he returned to the vehicle to find the passenger door open and Doris gone. Police say her purse was left in the vehicle.
Troopers, firefighters and bloodhounds searched the area near the parking lot, and scuba divers searched the nearby Allegheny River, but she was never found.
Stalker was 54 at the time of her disappearance. She was 5 feet tall and weighed around 100 pounds. She was wearing a brown leather coat, blue jeans and brown suede shoes.
Police say Stalker suffered from an arthritic condition that would have prevented her from moving far without great pain.
