Stolen big rig found in Armstrong County lake

RURAL VALLEY, Pa. — A stolen tractor-trailer was pulled from the bottom of an Armstrong County lake Tuesday.

Police were first alerted to the truck late Monday night when someone reported seeing headlights coming out of Keystone Lake. Police said that by the time they arrived to check things out, nothing was visible.

The tri-axle truck, carrying aluminum framing used in basements, belongs to Keystone Concrete Inc. in Brookville, Pa.

Investigators said it appears as if someone stole the truck and then drove it into the lake. Nothing was stolen from the truck.

“It’s just one of those things, I don’t know. I can’t decide what makes somebody jump into a truck and drive it into a lake,” state police Sgt. Darren Burford said.

Officials said damage to the truck and the cleanup of diesel fuel in the lake will cost more than $10,000.

Authorities said they have a few leads, but no arrests have been made.
