Surveillance video helps police file charges in June burglary in Charleroi

CHARLEROI, Pa. — Charleroi police used surveillance video to help file charges against a man accused of breaking into a convenience store in June.

Authorities said Lang Woytovich is accused of breaking into Orange’s Gift Shop on Fallowfield Avenue and stealing jewelry.

According to police, surveillance video shows Woytovich walk up to the store and use different objects as he tried to break the glass door.

After several failed attempts with a traffic cone and small rocks, investigators said Woytovich broke the glass door with a big rock, smashed a jewelry display case and fled with an undetermined amount of jewelry.

“There was another incident around the corner from the gift shop where he had busted some windows out at a couple other businesses and at that time he was subsequently arrested on those offenses,” Charleroi police officer Michael Kresich said.

Investigators said the burglary happened in June, but they were able to file charges on Monday because of the surveillance video.

Woytovich is facing burglary charges.
