Police said Fisher was in a crash involving about 50 vehicles about 12:30 p.m. near milepost 300 in Chester County. Snowy conditions contributed to the chain reaction crash.

Fisher walked back to check on the condition of a motorist in what appeared to be the most severely damaged vehicle in the area and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 72-year-old New Jersey woman while he stood on an embankment, police said.

Fisher practiced family medicine with Solano & Kokales Internal Medicine Associates in Oakland. A University of Pittsburgh medical school graduate, Fisher lived in Friendship with his wife and two young children.
