PITTSBURGH — Residents on Sylvania Avenue in Beltzhoover said the sidewalk in front of their homes has been a solid sheet of ice for days because of a water leak.
The problem started during Tuesday's extreme cold, and has since made it difficult for people to get in and out of their homes.
"This is ridiculous. You have a waterfall across the street," said Jeffrey McNeal.
Linda Morton said the leak has also left her with little or no water since Thursday.
"When I had some water coming through my faucets on Thursday, I filled up some gallon jugs because I have animals and stuff," said Morton. "Today I get up and have very little water. I can't do anything. I can't flush my toilet."
Pennsylvania American Water said they are aware of a small leak coming from a service line under the sidewalk, and that crews would be out to make repairs.
