WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — Nearly two dozen acres of forest will be preserved for generations to come in Westmoreland County.
The Westmoreland Land Trust celebrated new protections for the Turtle Creek Gorge on the Westmoreland Heritage Trail.
The group bought the 23 acres of property, which is home to a lot of wildlife. They will protect the forest, towering rocks and scenic views.
The trust’s executive director, Leanna Bird, said the process has been in the works for a long time.
Around 180,000 people visit the Westmoreland Heritage Trail each year.
